Welcome to Richard and Peter Fahey Racing. Based at Musley Bank Stables near Malton in Yorkshire, Richard is one of Europe’s leading trainers, sending out a record 235 winners in a single season and tasting top success with champions such as Wootton Bassett, Perfect Power and Ribchester. In 2026, he was joined on the licence by son Peter.
ABOUT RICHARD and PETER
Richard is a former Conditional Champion Jockey whose 100 winners under both codes included Icarus in the 1991 Bobby Renton Memorial Novice Chase at Wetherby.
Since opening for business as a trainer in 1993, Richard has sent out over 3,000 winners including Group winners in England, Ireland, France, Canada, Bahrain, Dubai and Saudi Arabia.
Richard has been training out of Musley Bank since 2005. In March 2026, son Peter joined the licence and today the stables operate as Richard and Peter Fahey Racing. They are assisted by a long-serving and tight-knit team that includes Robin O’Ryan, Eireann Cagney and Chloe Brodie.
Peter has been working closely behind the scenes at Musley Bank for the past 10 years. This step is a natural progression for the yard and reflects the role he has been playing within the business for some time.
It is an exciting step forward - maintaining continuity while also looking ahead and strengthening the operation for the future.
Richard also runs a racing club - the RICHARD FAHEY EBOR RACING CLUB. It was created to make the racehorse ownership experience accessible and affordable to all racing enthusiasts and for £249 per year members have the opportunity to immerse themselves in the full owner’s experience. OUR FACILITIES
Today, the yard features a range of state-of-the-art facilities, including treadmills, horse walkersand an equine spa that supports horses’ recovery.
An indoor school allows year-round exercise regardless of the weather, while spacious turnout paddocks provide ample room for the horses to relax and move freely.
Our mile long gallop is stiff at the bottom and level at the top but uphill all the way. We also use mile long grass gallops when suitable.
